I'm dealing with an anhosting issue right now. First of all, I spent a few grand getting my ecommerce site constructed by another company. I finally got it up and hosted by Anhosting only to get a virus 2 months later....I had not even advertised the site yet!!! AnHosting support team told me that they only back up files 24 hours after...so they couldn't help me retrieve my files to get my site back up. They instead gave me an alternative that would cost me more money.

They sent me an automated email a month or so later stating that they would shut down my site because google reported that the site was a virus. Cut to 4 or 5 months later, they are sending me a bill for renewal saying I owe them money!! So I explain to the billing department about my experience with their company and that I would not be paying the balance and that they could feel free to hold my domain name hostage if they like. I also told them that I would not be paying any money for a renewal of a site that has been shut down (despite their insistance that I didn't formally cancel my site).

So needless to say, I am sooooo done with them, and I hope that this will help others determine just how horrible this company really is before making a decision to use their services.

Unfortunately, almost every web hosting review on the web is full of "X company is by far the worst". It's certainly impossible that every company in the web hosting world is the worst.

I think people have a bad experience, or don't understand something that they agree to (like automatic renewals -- this is a website, why WOULDN'T you want auto renewals? every host does this!) flips out and very immaturely slams the hosting company.

It is more likely that the majority of these cases are user-error or user-misunderstood (aka "feature" vs "bug", like protecting a server from an IP that is slamming it with requests as opposed to the standard no-more-than 2 simultaneous FTP connections).

I am currently experiencing a MySQL problem with an AN Hosting server and wish I could find some suggestions from others by using Google, unfortunately it's the same issue when searching for solutions on 1and1, Network Solutions, Go Daddy, Dreamhost, etc: "they ***ing blow, they are the worst, etc..." without any recommendations or intelligent display of the problem(s) encountered.

Thank you so much for the elightenment. I'm also considering to buy a DLSR, but im still choosing between brands and models. It's nice of you to clearly tackle the Pentax K100D in detail. It will be part of my list of cameras to choose from :-)

Nineteen Eighty-Four is still under copyright in the US. It will be so until 2044 (95 years after publication) and in the EU until 2020 (Life plus 70 [Orwell died in 1950). In Canada, Australia and elsewhere, it is out of copyright (both have life + 50 terms).
